“Distilling the Galleries”

The day begins in the Distillery District, Toronto’s only historic area. This venue was once the home of the Gooderham & Worts Distillery and is now a national historic site, home to more than 100 galleries, shops, performance venues, studios, bakeries, restaurants and a microbrewery.
Our first stop will be the stunning Corkin Gallery where the group will have the pleasure of meeting Jane Corkin who will provide an introduction to her gallery. The Corkin Gallery represents a group of emerging artists working in all forms of media: painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, video and photography. Next stop will be the spectacular Sandra Ainsley Gallery. Sandra Ainsley herself will guide the group through her gallery which represents the works of major contemporary Canadian, American, and internationally recognized artists working in glass and mixed media.
We board the coach for a short ride to the Gardiner Museum. Upon arrival we will partake in the culinary delights of the Jamie Kennedy at the Gardiner restaurant with one of Canada’s most celebrated chefs at the helm for lunch. Following lunch, we will tour the museum, which is the only museum in Canada entirely devoted to ceramic art. The Gardiner Museum was founded in 1984 by Toronto philanthropists George and Helen Gardiner to house their outstanding ceramics collection, often described as a “jewel box” of ceramic treasures. Helen Gardiner will be present as the docent for this tour and will highlight the more than 2,900 ceramic works from Europe, Asia and the Americas. The Gardiner Museum is located in the heart of the Toronto shopping district and guests can choose to return to the hotel or remain in the area for some shopping on their own.
The Accompanying Persons Program will be offered as a package including both the Tour and the Seminar Banquet.
