The Branch is delighted to recognize Arnold Sherman as an honouary member of IFA Canada.
Mr. Sherman, or Arnold as he is known to all, has had a long and varied career in international tax. IFA Canada has been one of the constants in that career.
Qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1954, and working in international tax planning since 1961, Arnold has been one of the longest serving and supportive members of IFA Canada. He has served on the Council of IFA Canada since 1973.
He assumed responsibility for the worldwide tax function of Massey-Ferguson Limited in 1962, a position he held until 1977. Subsequent events took him to senior tax positions in Monaco and in Calgary, Alberta, where he served as Director, Taxation at Dome Petroleum Limited, following which he established his own practice as an independent tax advisor.
Over his career, Arnold has authored “Migration Canada” (1985) and many articles published in professional journals. He has been an editorial consultant to the IBFD, a lecturer for the International Tax Academy in Amsterdam and for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta. He has also served in many professional organizations and has regularly and consistently contributed his insights and efforts on their behalf. IFA is delighted to have been one of the beneficiaries of those efforts.
