This will be a hybrid event, hosted in-person in Montreal and by webinar on Zoom. An in-person cocktail event will also be hosted in Paris.
Online participants can choose to listen to the event in the presented French or through live simultaneous interpretation in English.

The International Fiscal Association’s Women of IFA Network (WIN) in Canada, in partnership with other francophone WIN initiatives, is excited to welcome Sophie Chatel, Canadian Member of Parliament for the Pontiac constituency in Québec, for a hybrid event on May 27. Following the theme of “The Sky is the Limit,” Ms. Chatel will discuss her incredible career path and share her experiences as an international tax professional at the forefront of tax developments.
The event will run from 11a.m. – 12 p.m. EDT in Montreal, and from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. CET in Paris. The presentation will be held in French with simultaneous interpretation to English available for virtual participants.
For those attending virtually, the presentation will be followed by a 30-minute virtual networking session.
Those located in Montreal are welcome to join Ms. Chatel in person at the Gowling WLG office for the presentation, followed by lunch and a networking session. In Gowling WLG’s Paris office, an in-person cocktail event will also be hosted along with the presentation.
Ms. Chatel has been a member of the Canadian Parliament since September 2021. From 2017 to 2021, she was head of the Tax Treaties Unit at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Centre for Tax Policy and Administration. Prior to that, she held key positions in international tax policy within the Department of Finance and the Canada Revenue Agency.

Venez rencontrer Sophie Chatel, députée de Pontiac, dans le cadre d’un événement hybride le 27 mai prochain, organisé par le réseau Women of IFA Network (WIN) de l’Association fiscale internationale (section canadienne), en partenariat avec d’autres initiatives francophones du WIN. « Toujours plus haut » sera le thème abordé par Mme Chatel qui nous parlera de son incroyable parcours professionnel et de ses expériences en fiscalité internationale, étant toujours à l’avant-plan des nouveaux développements fiscaux. L’événement aura lieu de 11 h à midi HAE à Montréal, et de 17 h à 18 h HEC à Paris. La présentation se déroulera en français et une option d’interprétation simultanée en anglais sera offerte aux participants virtuels.
Pour les participants virtuels, la présentation sera suivie d’une séance de réseautage virtuel de 30 minutes.
Si vous êtes Montréal, nous vous invitons à assister à la présentation de Mme Chatel en personne au bureau de Gowling WLG et de participer ensuite à un dîner suivi d’une séance de réseautage. Au bureau de Gowling WLG à Paris, un cocktail en personne sera également organisé parallèlement à la présentation.
Mme Chatel est membre du Parlement canadien depuis septembre 2021. De 2017 à 2021, elle a dirigé l’Unité des conventions fiscales au Centre de politique et d’administration fiscales de l’Organisation de coopération et de développement économiques. Auparavant, elle a occupé des postes clés en matière de politique fiscale internationale au sein du ministère des Finances et de l’Agence du revenu du Canada.

The presentation will be in French in person. Simultaneous English interpretation will only be available online.
